Marcel Goc: Taking Over Germany, One Point At A Time
The past few months have been a difficult one for us hockey fans. With the NHL and the NHLPA still not being able to come to an agreement it’s discouraging. You would think that a billion dollar corporation would make sure that work would continue as usual, however that doesn’t seem to be the case, as both sides continue to be stubborn about the entire situation. The lockout has had a lasting effect on a wide range of different people. Whether you’re a fan of the game, a player, or even someone who works as a cleanup guy for the arena, you have probably felt some of the effects. Unfortunately, no one knows exactly when this lockout will come to an end. Hopefully its sooner rather than later.
With no NHL here in North America, many of the players have resorted to going overseas and signing with teams in a multitude of different leagues across the Eastern Hemisphere. Top Ten Panther Players Of 2011-2012. Number 6
Every year when teams prepare for the NHL Draft, they look to draft players who fit their playing scheme well. Not every top draft picks works out in the favor of the team. Whether it was a high draft pick that didn’t pan out or a lower pick that was taken as a low risk, high reward pick, every year in the draft there is always that one special player that was passed up round after round. For Jason Garrison, he wasn’t even drafted by a team. After entering the league as an undrafted free agent with the Florida Panthers, Garrison knew that the path to the top would not be an easy one. Although it was achievable, it wasn’t a given. Over the next few months Jason knew that he would have to give it everything he had in order to earn a roster spot on the Panthers. Jason was assigned to the Panthers AHL affiliate, the Rochester Americans. After spending a season with the Americans, Garrison split time with both the Americans and the Panthers the following season. Once he had his spot on this team, he refused to let it go. Top Ten Panthers Of 2011-2012. Number 7
With the countdown getting closer and closer to number one, I introduce to you number seven on my list of best Panthers from last season; Dmitry Kulikov.
With the 14th pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, the Florida Panthers select Dmitry Kulikov. With the pick the Panthers were getting a terrific two way defender, with hopes that he could develop into being one of the best defenders in the league. Although he isn’t at that level yet, Dmitry Kulikov is definitely gaining recognition, not just as one of the best players on Florida, but as a premiere young talent in the league.
