In a bit of AHL news, the Florida Panthers announced today that they have parted ways will longtime San Antonio Rampage goaltender Dov Grumet-Morris.
Although he had recently been regulated to backup duty with both Jacob Markstrom and Michael Houser making their way up the Panthers’ goaltending ladder, Grumet-Morris, 31, was able to accumulate a 32-42-7 record while starting a bulk of the Rampage’s games during the 2012-13 and 2011-12 seasons.
Though he has shown flashes of brilliance at times, Grumet-Morris has yet to take his game to the next level and given his age, will most likely continue his career as an AHL netminder.
With Grumet-Morris now out of the picture, and Jacob Markstrom on his way to Florida to take the spot of an injured Tim Thomas, the Panthers organization will look to sign another goaltender who will report to either the San Antonio Rampage of the AHL or the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL, depending on the length of Markstrom’s stay in Florida.
