Jack Skille Signs With Blue Jackets

After not receiving a qualifying offer from the Florida Panthers prior to the start of free agency, former 7th overall pick Jack Skille has reportedly signed with the Columbus Blue Jackets. According to TSN’s Aaron Ward, Skille’s contract is a two-way deal which hints that he very likely could be spending the majority of the 2013-2014 season with Colubmus’ AHL affiliate, Springfield Falcons.

A former first round selection of the Chicago Blackhawks by current Panthers’ GM Dale Tallon, Skille was never fully able to reach the expectations that came with his draft position. Hopefully for both Skille and Tallon, this move will provide both with some closure on a project that never came to fruition.

In Skille’s final season with the Panthers he recorded 12 points (3G 9A) in 40 games played.

We wish Jack Skille the best in the next phase of his still very young career – Thanks for reading and please feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below!
