Florida Panthers Looking For Offense, Invite Marek Svatos To Camp

If there was one area that you could say needs inprovement for the Florida Panthers, I feel you’d all agree it’s more offense.  Last season despite ranking 27th overall in the NHL with 197 goals for, the Panthers won their first ever divisional championship, qualifying for the playoffs for the first time in more than a decade at the same time.  Because of solid goaltending from both Jose Theodore and Scott Clemmensen, the Panthers were able to keep games close, but often times because of the lack of scoring, didn’t win some games they should have.

In an attempt to address that, the Panthers are inviting to camp former Colorado Avalance right wing Marek Svatos.  Svatos is 30 years old is a former 32 and 26 goal scorer during his time with the Avalanche.  The former seventh round pick in 2001 (227th overall), is a native of Kosice, Czechosolvakia and is a talented forward, however he comes with a major concern: injuries.  While also playing for Nashville and Ottawa briefly, Svatos has a very long list of both minor and major injuries, with concussion symptoms that caused him to miss all of 2011-2012.  He also has yet to play a full season in his seven year NHL career with 69 games played in 2008-2009 being the most.
