NHL Announces Press Conference For Thursday

Don’t look now, but the doom that we have been feeling is about to become a reality as the league has already made a formal announcement that they will call a press conference on Thursday afternoon at 3:30.  It is expected that the press conference has been scheduled to tell everyone exactly what they don’t want to hear:  There will be a lockout!

The two sides are meeting today, and while there still is faint hope that a resolution could be made, all signs are pointing to a stoppage of play.  It is expected that over 300 NHL players will be in attendance today. Training camps as have been cancelled across the NHL, however players have been working out informally.  The current CBA agreement expires Saturday September 15th, and even though the players have indicated that they are willing to play until a new arrangement has been agreed upon, that will not be the case.

The NHLPA is slated to make a proposal this afternoon, however the two sides may still be too far apart to reach a settlement.  l

Prepare for the worst, but you can always hope for the best.
